The Best Firefighter and Cat Photo I have Seen

Sadly, firefighters and cat rescue photos are not uncommon. Purely from an aesthetic point of view and putting aside for a moment the tragedy that might be behind the photo, a cat rescued by a fireman makes a nice photo. They make a nice contrast: the vulnerable cat and the burly firefighter being tender and caring.

This photo is perhaps the best I have seen. The cat looks like a white, traditional Persian (if she is a purebred, pedigree). She’s messed up by the soot and dirt et cetera. Oh dear, her glorious coat will need a good wash. She is yowling by the look of it. The fireman is keeping his cool as he is trained to do. Under these circumstances, I always fear that the cat will wrestle free and bolt to be lost. We never know what happened next.

  1. It is a fantastic photo. I think the extreme weather conditions and the cat’s appearance, add to the drama.

I’d love to know the story behind this photo, but I’ve had no luck trying to find out. I’m sceptical that the man is actually a fireman. He’s not wearing a helmet and his jacket doesn’t bear any logos or insignias. This makes me even more curious to know more of this story.

    • Yes, Michele, I had some doubts about his role. He passes as a firefighter! Therefore qualifies as a firefighter/cat photo just 😉 The cat’s expression is priceless. Nice looking cat under the soot. Probably purebred.

      • Michael, do you know anything more about this photo or which country it originates from? TinEye wasn’t able to source the original.

It’s a magnificent looking cat. Possibly a Chinchilla Persian?

  2. It’s nice to see it when a firefighter also cares about our felion freinds..i can see by the look on that kittys face that he or she must have survived a very scary situation….my thumbs up to all the firefighters who care about our cats too.!!!!
