The Boss Cat - Caps
Although there are at present 11 in our "wild Bunch" one of the youngest toms, Caps, rules the roost. He demands that he eat first and on sunny days I've seen him chase off one of the others to take over his favorite spots to hang out.
We have 5.5 acres and he follows me everywhere like a hound. He'll also run to greet me when I come back from the store, and seems to think the top of my Honda is a perfect place to watch over his domain.
I've sat on our deck and actually seen the others come and greet him and then move on, so the next can pay "homage".
It's really quite amazing. Caps is a short hair. He's all white with black caps on his ears and around his eyes and he has a black patch around the base of his tail, and his tail is black.
He has a smaller litter mate Spats who is colored similarly but his coloring is gray instead of black. Caps is the only male I may touch and have picked him up a few times attempting to get him used to people.
This cutie and his brother were dumped out of a car in a beer box as I was checking our mail (people are so kind). Luckily there wasn't much wrong with them except a few bruises, and they were starving. And totally unsociable.
Spats got me real bad; my own stupidity when I tried to hold him. Eight stitches later, I now use welding gloves if I have to handle him. Unlike his brother, Caps enjoys interacting.
Every day he indignantly (as only a cat can be) allows me a few seconds of holding him. I'd probably allow him in the house but my mate has severe breathing problems so he will remain outside.
This small colony is supported by myself and our tenants, kind souls to the last. We are attempting to socialize them so we may find them homes of their own.
