One hundred and forty year old LOL cats! These are going around the internet at 18th April 2012. They are said by the cheeseburger site to be the earliest known LOL cat images (spelled lolcats by the cheeseburger site).
LOL cats is not a modern cult or trend as I had thought. It has been around since 1870 approximately. It is still fading away I believe. It has to because it is cultish in nature.
I think there must have been a bit of a gap though between the photographs on this page and the current internet fad. I don’t think anyone did LOL cats to a serious level between Mr Pointer’s photography and about 7 years ago.
The photographer, Mr Pointer photographed his own cats in funny poises and added captions. The captions are hand written and not in the Impact font style of modern day LoL cats but all the elements of LOL cats images are there.
The pictures are in the public domain due to the passage of time making copyright no longer applicable.
