The face of heartbreak: Cat at NC shelter may only have a few days to find a new home

UPDATE May 2, 2018 ADOPTED! I’ll be writing an update Thursday night.

This is the face of heartbreak. Once this sad-eyed kitty becomes available at a North Carolina shelter, he may only have a few days to find a home before being killed. People are upset, to say the least. We can help by sharing his story.

This is Hercules, a male turned in as a stray and posted April 27 to the Facebook page for Rowan County Animal Shelter in Salisbury. Since he’s a stray, the shelter must give his owner time to claim him. If not, Hercules will go up for adoption May 2. He can be killed anytime after May 4.

His information on the shelter’s Facebook page states

A112325 Hercules
Stray Male 28147
Available 5/2/2018
Last day 5/4/2018

Shelter information is listed following this article. Please share him for rescue or adoption before his time runs out. His thread is here. There are a lot of interesting comments and people really do want to save this boy without fighting too much.

  1. Hercules is scheduled to be picked up Wednesday.
He will travel to Baltimore to his forever home. Paws crossed there will be no glitches. Will update when he’s is out of the building.

      • Yes, Michael! I think his expression has touched many. The woman from MD, Lisa, filled out the application form first thing this morning and now is just waiting approval. There are others showing interest as well. I hope Lisa is approved. She’s been the first willing to save his life. And, drive a distance to do so! 😘😇😻

        • The files were huge! 3 megabytes. They still uploaded which is good because I have included them in the updating article. Thanks a lot for sharing the news.

          • Oh my!! So sorry, Michael!! I think I can send smaller, next time. I’m abit of a dolt when it comes to photo files sizes! 😩🔨
