This is what happens when you foster kittens in an office for a week

This is a charming video. Super cute kittens were placed in a defined area in an open plan office. They were behind glass to protect staff who were allergic to cats or those who lacked confidence around cats (let’s put it that way). Of course the kittens ended up on desks and keyboards; where they belong! Cats have no concept of ‘human work’ or the workplace which is why my cat is lying all over my keyboard while I try and type this.

One of the male staffers adopted a cute dark tabby who he had fallen in love with. The ladies were delighted with the presence of the kittens. One member of staff goes into a fit of giggles and laughter when she meets the kittens and you have to admit that they are adorable.

One guy who declared his hatred of cats, and who said he was a dog person, softens noticeably towards the end of the exercise. I think he is on the way of becoming a cat and dog person. He certainly changed his attitude towards cats. The presence of a companion animal in the workplace can improve efficiency. It makes the place more friendly but in this instance there is a distracting element (surprised?!), namely a kitten padding over your computer keyboard and staring up at you innocently asking for a cuddle and a kiss.

I guess the ultimate idea was to make a cute and enjoyable film and it is certainly that. I really enjoyed watching it. The smiles and laughter of the employees is infectious. As I understand it the business worked with the ASPCA in the making of the video. It is always nice to breakdown the sterility of the normal workplace by bringing in a companion animal. They completely change the atmosphere.

For those who are unsure, fostering cats is when a person (a volunteer) takes a cat from an animal shelter and takes care of the cat at their home until adopted. They work with shelters to extend their ability to care for more cats.

  2. The one women who was grossed out by the food. I wonder what she would do if she had a human child? Does she think they will shit butterflies? Does she think it will eat pretty food? I’m glad some ideas have turned for the better after having these babies in the office. I would personally love It!
