This little video amused me although I don’t like seeing cats being frightened. The cats, who are all buddies by the look of it, living in a nice home, are watching with great intensity a bird padding around outside. This leaves them open to an innocent ‘ambush’ by their dog companion who joins them. See what happens. I think you can guess by now…
The video says it explains the difference between cats and dogs. I don’t think that is quite right. The cats were focused on the bird and were taken aback by the arrival of the dog. I have just seen a video of three dogs who were scared of a cat cushion; not much difference in terms of being scared about nothing. Cats are going to be self-protective at all times even in their own secure home. It’s instinctive.
This video reminds me of the cucumber videos (see below); cats jumping out of their skin when a person places a cucumber (a strange object) behind them. When they turn around and see the strange object they jump sky high in defensive behaviour.
The difference is that these guys almost certainly know the dog. They just did not know he’d turn up at that time.
It’s normal for a cat to be frightened of a cucumber if it sneaks up on her
Dogs are often like human boys: rough, loud, disturbing. That’s why I don’t like either. I was a boy and I don’t remember being like that either, but I noticed my friends.
