Tim Walz petting a cat? That does it..100% for Walz

Tim Walz pets a cat and he immediately gains the vote of millions of cat lovers and caregivers. Read on, please. Although this article is about promoting animal welfare, Tim Walz has a good record in supporting labour rights and Kamala Harris has a strong record in supporting women’s rights. Two important and fundamental issues.

There are a couple of photos of Tim Walz circulating on social media with a cat. There may be more. One appears to be him with his cat but not sure (see below – update: yes) and the other appears to be him petting the head of a grey-and-white cat at a facility of some sort.

Either way they are a carefully constructed counter-statement to the one that got JD Vance into so much trouble when he referred to childless cat ladies. That was so misogynistic it was horrendous. And it is pretty clear to me that Vance dislikes cats while it is also clear that Walz likes them. An antidote to the cat-hating, misogynistic Vance. Just what the doctor ordered.

From what I have heard and seen Tim Walz is a good pick by Kamala Harris as her running mate. May they win and may cat welfare prosper under their administration. Indeed, animal welfare in general. It is clear that this duo is far better qualified to promote animal welfare than Trump and Vance.

Here is another social media photo of Tim Walz and a cat. The muted orange kitty is Afton and he disappeared August 2023, everyone in town searched for him but didn’t find him. In December 2023 Walz adopted a new kitty named Honey (this is from Tamara – see comment). Walz has a friendly face. He looks solid and reasonable.

Both the above are embedded posts from X. They may disappear so here are the photos in a montage made by me. I think that Walz is successfully employing the humble domestic cat to make a statement as mentioned and he is doing it very successfully.

My research did not bring up information on Tim Walz’s record regarding animal welfare legislation and policies during his political career. We’ll have to wait and see.

For animal advocates the sensitivities of Harris and Walz towards the sentience of animals of all kinds is vital. Americans need leaders who are prepared to push through policies that promote animal welfare as it needs improving all the time.

And when a person is sensitive towards animal well-being they are automatically going to be sensitive to the well-being of all those that are vulnerable, which means Americans who need help.
