Toodles Galore Cartoon Cat
She's the pretty white, slim cat that Tom (from tom n jerry) goes bonkers when he sees her.. i think she was there in the "country cat" episode 😉 ........P.S check out Tiara - my Persian kitten , on this site.
Hi Kuki - thanks for this. I had forgotten this cartoon cat. I've added this bit and a picture:
Yes, Toodles was a cat that looked almost human. She was a human with two bits of cat anatomy, her tail and ears and a cat like appearance of course.
Apparently, she first appeared in the 1946 film, Springtime for Thomas. Toodles is Tom's main girlfriend. He had more than one it seems, being a bit of a playboy type or thinking that he was.
Being a very desirable female cat Tom had on occasion to compete for her attentions (against Butch for example). And Toodles herself was not against having an affair with other animals (a good time girl obviously).
In Casanova Cat she teases (?) little Jerry and in Solid Serenade she is interested in a bull dog, Spike, who is also chasing her (she is a dangerous cat!).
Toodles may have been based on the famous human female actress Lana Turner's character, Bunny Smith in the film Week-End at the Waldorf. She made her last appearance in a cartoon called, Smarty Cat. I think she appeared in 10 Tom and Jerry cartoons in all.
Note: the picture of Toodles is not copyright free but I claim fair use and adopt the arguments of the Wikipedia author. Source: Wikipedia (this cartoon cat is not in the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Cartoon Animals).
