Tracey Emin’s cat, Docket, has died

Tracey Emin’s cat, Docket, was her friend, companion and muse for almost 20 years. The Mail on Sunday has reported his death at 19-years-of-age. She said that she never knew she could love an animal so much and that it was a joining of souls. You may know Tracey Emin. She is a well-known British artist who became famous with her conceptual art exhibit which was her unmade bed. It was called My Bed and Everyone I Have Ever Slept with 1963-1995.

Tracey Emin was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1999. She has asked some of the art world’s biggest names to attend a commemoration service for her beloved cat who was given to her as a kitten by her former boyfriend Matt Collishaw in 2002.

I never knew I could love an animal so much

Many cat owners will empathise with Tracey over her loss. I certainly can in a big way. She doesn’t want to talk about it to the news media which I also fully understand. But a spokesperson confirmed that her cat had died. This is a very good age for a domestic cat. Docket was one of Britain’s most celebrated cats at one stage and when he was lost in 2002 in East London and she put up lost cat posters, the posters were torn down and kept as ‘works of art’ or memorabilia to be sold on eBay.

Docket was an inspiration to Tracey Emin and she created a sculpture in 2005 and a glass sculpture 2013 of Docket, which went on sale for £25,000.

In 2008 she revealed her fears when Docket fell ill and she said, “I can’t imagine my life without my cat. I am afraid of the thing that I love most in the world leaving me.”

Hi, I am 70-years-of-age at 2019. For 14 years before I retired at 57, I worked as a solicitor in general law specialising in family law. Before that I worked in a number of different jobs including professional photography. I have a longstanding girlfriend, Michelle. We like to walk in Richmond Park which is near my home because I love nature and the landscape (as well as cats and all animals).
