A Croft, Leicestershire (UK) woman is warning cat owners to be vigilant about their outdoor cats after returning home on August 11 to find two men with nets chasing her cat with a net.
The woman lives on Broughton Road with her daughter. She wishes to remain anonymous and I can’t blame her since she has an unsettling story to tell and a daughter to protect.
Her cat, Tybalt, was a gift for her daughter after her husband passed away and is very special to the family.
After dropping off her daughter on August 11, the woman returned home to a strange scene. She stated during an interview with news media
“As I was approaching my house, I saw a white small van parked just after my drive, but parked like it had broken down. I saw two men standing on my grass at the top of my garden waving something. I assumed they were trying to flag someone down, when I was almost turning onto my drive I then saw my cat running around and realised what they were doing.”
The two men jumped back in their van when she jumped out to apprehend them. The vehicle had no license plates and anyone with information is asked to contact Leicestershire Police.
“I know it sounds stupid but my pets are my life and Tybalt we got as I lost my husband very suddenly and bought him for my daughter, so he’s a bit special. Every Sunday morning now I’m on edge and are constantly looking out for them or the van, but God help them if I see them.”
She confiscated their net, which she turned over to police as evidence. Tybalt didn’t suffer any injuries from being chased but most likely was traumatized as much if not more than his owner.
People, there are crazies out there everywhere these days. Keep your pets safe. This isn’t the same world it used to be.
You should worry about your cat, these people mean business and I mean business , please keep your pet safe in doors, they can be trained to be indoor cats only. To many crazy people out there today as well as animals that will eat your cat.
If you want your cat to have a good long life I’d think about it seriously . Good luck me dear, so glad your kitties safe this time.
Thanks Deb.
