There is a news story about a massive mice infestation in New South Wales but the reporters make no mention of the obvious methods of helping to deal with this distressing infestation namely introducing community cats to the area and indeed into a school where we are told the mice scurry across the students’ desks.

Let’s introduce some working cats to these areas, reflecting, as it would, the first wildcat to be domesticated on the planet about 10,000 years ago.

They were domesticated to work with farmers to help keep down mice infestations feeding on their grain.

Have we forgotten that that is the original purpose of the domestic cat?
