Initially, this was quite mystifying to me but I finally worked it out 😻. It concerns a place in Minneapolis referred to as the “Wedge”. The name comes from an area of Minneapolis which is wedge-shaped and which is the Lowry Hill East neighbourhood. I believe they have formed a cooperative in that area in order to get together and by whole, natural foods in bulk in order to save money.
The Wedge ‘Show us Your Cats’ parade by Michael BroadAnd I also understand that the organiser of the Wedge has a Twitter/X account called Wedge Live. Through this account and in other ways, this person, John Edwards, and I presume some helpers, organises a kind of street party/walk in which, this year, hundreds of residents walked through their local streets looking at cats sitting in windows!
They carried banners which demanded “Show Us Your Cats”. And they took photographs with their smart phones of cats sitting on windowsills behind living room windows.
And some residents, knowing that this march was going to take place, brought their cats out to be photographed and I guess to discuss cats in general. It’s a kind of communal gathering but centred around the domestic cat which I think is great. This appears to nothing less than a celebration of the domestic cat in Minneapolis which I think can only be beneficial for cat welfare. It supports the notion that a lot of people love cats, which I guess we know.
The turnout has gradually increased over the years to around 500 this year and judging by what I’ve seen in terms of photographs and videos they had a great time!
It is the seventh annual Wedge Live cat tour according to Twitter/X. Twenty-two stops were planned in this year’s parade. Residents signed up to put their cats on display and there were some surprise additions. Lots of fun, lots of cats and something which I think is very good for the community that is called Wedge.

Note: why did I use the word ‘spanking’ in the title? To try and get attention and the attention of Google! (❤️ ω ❤️).
