‘Poly cats’ come from England (west country and Wales apparently). They were ship’s cats ending up on the east coast of America. Sailors believed the extra toes made the cats better sailors 🙂 .Boston on the east coast is America’s poly cat center. Hemingway lived on the east coat at Key West and then Cuba. He loved cats and had many poly cats called Hemingway cats. They were random bred cats although the cat in the photo has a passing resemblance to the Maine Coon.
