Cash payment banned for purchases of pets in the UK

The UK wants to introduce legislation to make it compulsory to purchase companion animals other than with cash so that the transaction can be traced which will prevent onward sales from thieves. There has been a surge in theft of companion animals over the pandemic lockdowns. This cashless purchasing system is part of a package of measures being taken by the UK government to crack down on the theft of pets and to improve companion animal ownership.
