I live in the UK and I have spent the the last decade devoting my life to unwanted cats and kittens and feeding the hungry and unwell semi-feral cats in the area.
However bad and nasty neighbours decided that the cats were vermin (my own cats were included in this debate by them) and called the REPCA who set traps and my own 6 adult cats were never seen again by myself nor my family.
The first I knew was when I went on their website to see 2 of my cats being offered for adoption after supposedly being feral (but the ad said that Virgil, the name given to my lovable red tabby, was feral but liked his tummy rubbed????).
He was (as were the others) wearing collars when trapped then whisked off to the surgeon to have bits chopped off.
When I said I wanted my cats back I was told I had to pay over £600 for each cat they had trapped.
I was gutted and since then I devote my time with other cat lovers fighting the do gooders who do nothing but meddle in creatures’ lives often causing death simply because they decide there’s enough cats in the area.
My advise is do not trust these people. I forgot to mention that my red tabby was infertile so it was totally unjust to castrate him.

I have been trying to get them back but the woman thats dealing.with it says that they are going to re home him so i dont know what to do. My kids will be gutted if they lose him my son has grown up around both the older ones and my daughter whos a year old says one of there names but they dont see that they just think that he cannot be re homed with kids under 5 please tell me someone has some idea how i could get him back the only thing i can think of is getting someone i know to adopt him
Hi Charlotte, the RSPCA don’t have a complaints procedure as far as I can tell. They seem to have too much power when it comes to cases like yours. I would write to the Chief Executive who I believe is Gavin Grant and make a complaint. The idea that you have of a friend adopting your cat is good. You might try that but do it subtly.
One last point. I don’t know you and don’t know the circumstances. The RSPCA may have had good reason to take your cat for all I know. However, I trust you and you seem genuine so I want to try and help but it is difficult. There is not a lot one can do and I have searched for a complaints procedure without success. I had the RSPCA come to the house yesterday after receiving a phone call they forced me to sign over my cat, she then said that he needed to be put down because he was dehydrated but he is perfectly fine he had been eating and drinking the whole weekend. She also said that she would take him to the vet that he is registered with but when i rang up he wasn’t there or in any other vet in my town. I’m still trying to find out whats going on.
Charlotte, I am shocked to read your comment. I’d like to know some more about this. Why did the RSPCA come around in the first place? It seems the RSPCA lied about taking your cat to the vet. Thank you for visiting and commenting.
It wasn’t the RSPCA’s fault – itwas those evil neighbours of yours! But i do agree, the RSPCA should have checked if those neighbours were telling the truth, eh?
