This is just one example, and there are very many more, of how declawing can affect a cat’s life for the rest of his life. I don’t believe that many veterinarians realize the potential long-term consequences of declawing a cat. They go into it, I believe, rather recklessly and operate rapidly, often botching the surgery.
In this instance, it appears that the surgery was not botched because no bone fragments were found. But lovable and cuddly Mr Louis was walking like a “woman in wobbly stilettos”. He could not walk with normal balance. It’s as if he’s walking on egg shells.
X-rays discovered that he cannot fully extend one wrist due to joint swelling. Also, the tendons that move his toes are starting to contract or freeze. These are the consequences of declawing this boy.
