Cats play on fake wood flooring which may contain phthalates which are poisonous to humans and animals

Please click on the link above the photograph for more on this. I will be brief. Vinyl flooring contains phthalates. Through wear and tear this chemical can be released into the atmosphere inside the home.

It has been found that phthalates disrupt the endocrine system in humans. It has also been found that this chemical affects cognition in children born to mothers who have been poisoned by phthalates. Males are particularly affected.

I am concerned, therefore, that the domestic cat companions lying around vinyl flooring might be ingesting phthalates which may in turn be damaging their health in a gradual or insidious way being unnoticed by their owners.

There are still a considerable number of idiopathic illnesses suffered by cats. I believe that we need to look at household hazards and chemicals toxic to cats more critically to see whether we can find the source of these idiopathic illnesses.
