This is one cat which survived the Hawaiian wildfires on the island of Maui

This is one cat which survived the Hawaiian wildfires on the island of Maui but it is believed by animal advocates that many others remain within the wreckage of the fire but they are being refused access to rescue those cats by the local authority in the form of the senior army general who believes that there are no cats there. The animal advocates and rescue people argue otherwise. They believe that the old adage that domestic cats have nine lives applies in this instance and some are hiding in the wreckage waiting to be rescued. They say that some have emerged which is evidence that there will be some survivors out there. Comment: it seems unfathomable as to why the military won’t let animal advocates and rescuers into the wreckage to save cats if they are there. What harm is there in looking for cats which have survived the fire? Surely, they can go in in a managed and careful way to check the cats and rescue them if needs be. What is the barrier to that? My guess is that the military think the site is dangerous. If so, why can’t the military accompany the rescuers onto the site? There must be a better way than simply leaving them there to starve to death.
