If you want to know why Oriental shorthair cats and this family of pedigree cats are predisposed to wool sucking and ingesting fabrics under the umbrella of the condition called pica, you won’t find a clear 100% answer online or in the books because the experts are not quite sure.
It is probably tied up with stress. There may be a link to genetic inheritance and there may be a link to early weaning and the lanolin in wool although Dr. Bradshaw disagrees with the last suggestion which was made by Dr. Desmond Morris.
