High vantage points allow cats to observe the terrain around them watching for dangers. All homes should have some sort of construction, usually a cat condo, which can be used by their domestic cat companion to rest in and feel secure.
There are lots of outdoor cat furniture items as well which allow cats to rest eight or more feet off the ground where they can observe the surrounding garden.
You could argue that these pieces of cat furniture are essential items for a cat owner. You can’t really overdo them. The more the better.
Some cat owners build walkways around the interior of their home with little landing areas. This is going to an extreme in terms of ‘catification’ but if you are willing to do it it’s great for your cat.
It’s in a domestic cat’s DNA to move vertically. They simply have to do it. It’s in their nature. Think vertical when you have a domestic cat.
