Many leopards in India fall down partly hidden water wells which have not been covered or there is no barrier around them to protect people or animals such as leopards falling down them. The news media reports on this quite a lot. It is a concern as the leopard as a threatened species, threatened with extinction ultimately so it is beholden upon Indian officials and politicians to enact laws which are properly enforced to protect wildlife in their country.
