The great point to make about Humphrey the cat is that he was a wandering stray who wandered into 10 Downing Street, the offices of the Prime Minister of the UK, and he was accepted there by the staff. They looked after him for his entire life at their own expense, as I understand it. He was a very famous cat at the time and much discussed internationally. He outlasted Mrs Thatcher.
