Do some car drivers deliberately run over cats on the road?

This statistic indicates that some car drivers deliberately fail to avoid a cat on the road for the simple reason that they hate cats. There are quite a lot of people who strongly dislike cats. Allowing their car to run over a cat is a safe way of hurting a cat because it would be impossible to prove in a criminal court that the driver did it deliberately.

  1. Fascinating Jane. Thanks. I have been convinced for a long time that some cat haters go out of their way to drive over cats. I remember an American driver saying he liked to do it. They are invariably nasty types.

  2. I once knew of a man who hated cats big time. Whether he was driving a tractor or a car, any cat on any road, he’d have go at hitting it. I saw him snake a car after a fleet tabby who he missed by miles. He was usually in thrall to the hip flask in his overalls.

He disappeared for 5 months once, he was in hospital. He had tried killing a cat using a landrover this time. The best time to do this was obviously on the DRIVE home drunk from a lock in at one of the village pub.

Lucky for whatever cat he did not kill that night, as Mr Cat-Killer managed to upend the landrover in a deep ditch. Probably easier to list the bones he hadn’t broken and the organs not ripped to bits.
