This video titled ‘Titan charms the children’ is intended to have a dreamlike, unreal quality. And the end is intended to add a bit of tension to a soft video, to give it a bit of bite, or an edge. Those then are the intentions and why it is what it is. Beyond this objective, the overriding impression that a viewer should get from this video is the massively solid and balanced character of Titan, an F1 Savannah cat. He was a young cat at the time and his owner said he was the best cat he’d had (in terms of character – he said that on video, so I know). He was very balanced and nothing seemed to faze him.
And I think his presence with these children shows that and it is good for the children. My thanks once again go to Martin and Kathrin Stucki for raising Titan so well and providing the video material. This video is definitely a product of a partnership.
The video was made about 12 years ago with video material provided by A1 Savannahs which at that time was owned and managed by Martin and Kathryn Stucki. To the best of my knowledge, today they run a hotel in Montana. They are a great couple. The F1 Savannah cat is the biggest domestic cat in the world. They are bigger, generally, then the Maine Coon which is the biggest cat breed in the world. Remember, that the F1 Savannah cat is the product of a mating between a male serval and a female domestic cat, probably a Savannah cat.
The spotted coat of the F1 Savannah comes from the high contrast dense spots of the serval set against a yellowish background. And the F1 Savannah cat is very lanky with long legs because the serval is a wild cat species with the longest legs relative to the overall size of the cat of any wild cat species. This gives this species a lot of leverage which allows them to jump very high. They use this ability to jump on small mammals in long grass and judge where they are with their hearing alone.
