After providing security and safety, the cat caregiver’s role is to ensure that their cat companion is healthy and happy. These objectives do not arrive automatically. It takes effort from the caregiver and an acceptance that there is great responsibility in competent cat caregiving. And it is a lifetime journey. It is a good journey but one that can last upwards of 20 years.
The often-repeated point here is that a great deal of consideration needs to be given to adopting a cat companion before the adoption because one can’t in all decency decide to abandon your cat when things become a little difficult.
