The unusual aspect of this interaction is the kiss on the mouth. Not many people do this to their cat and vice versa. I think she likes the smell of the guy’s breath because ‘it is him’ – it represents him. He likes it because they have a damn close relationship. It is definitely a kind of love affair and he winks to tell us that.
Let’s start a huge discussion about cat kissing 🙂 Cats don’t kiss. What represents a kiss for cats is the nose touch and head butt. Proceeding on that basis, the routine that we see in the video was probably started by the man and the cat learned to like it because of the smell and close proximity to her human companion. She has shifted away from the feline head butt and nose touch to the human mouth to mouth kiss of the old-fashioned kind.
P.S. I don’t know the sex of the cat but I sense that she is female and that may be because I am anthropomorphising her. I don’t know. I think she looks female and I am pretty sure he wanted a female cat.
