Does Cara Delevingne own cats?

Yes, Cara Delevingne does own a couple of cats and they happen to be contemporary, flat-faced white Persians. They look quite cute too many people but when you look at the photograph below you can see one obvious health problem which is tear duct overflow causing staining down the face from the inner corner of the eye.

This is completely normal for flat-faced Persians because the tear ducts are distorted by extreme selective breeding over about 50+ years, which flattens the face. You have to wash this area with a special cleaning fluid – Angels’ Eyes – that you can buy online (Amazon). On a white, flat-faced Persian cat the staining is more obvious and, to be perfectly honest, it really does have a major negative impact on the appearance of what is meant to be a pretty cat.

In the first photograph from her Instagram page (above), you can see a nice comparison between Cara’s nose, which is obviously attractive because she is a very attractive woman, and the squished nose of one of her Persian cats. I think it makes a nice comparison and it highlights, for me, the sad and I would suggest rather cruel decision of the cat fancy to alter so invasively the appearance of a pretty cat.

Enough of that criticism of the flat-based Persian, a cat that I do not particularly like because the breeders have made this cat breed suffer for their appearance. There are other health problems which you can read about by clicking on this link.

But they are a popular breed today as they have been for about a hundred years, being one of the first in cat fancy with the blue British Shorthair. The cat fancy lost their way in the 1950s when they decided to change a perfectly normal Persian cat head with this modern one, an abomination really but it is subjective.

Interestingly, Cara lives a pooch as well which you can see in a hilarious video on Instagram. One of her Persians gives the pooch a piece of their mind. The cat slaps the dog around the head. Actually, it’s more a little poke than a slap and no big deal.

A website dedicated to reporting on celebrity pets say that Cara lives with Leo a mixed breed dog. The website describes the dog as a “husky mix”. The dog in the Instagram video is not a husky mix. But this website also reports that she lives with Alfie, another mixed breed dog. This is the dog in the video I’ve describe above and Alfie is a rescued Chihuahua-terrier mix.

It appears that Cara has adopted another dog since the husky mix dog was adopted in 2015. The celebrity pet website I refer to does not report on Cara’s cats and therefore Cara must have adopted her Persian cats reasonably recently. Note: I have assumed that she has adopted these cats and is not a foster carer to them. I could be wrong. If you know better please tell me in a comment.

Obviously, Cara likes animals which is a great attribute as far as I am concerned. She fostered two dogs in 2020, named Bowie and Hendrix for The Labelle Foundation. I’m guessing they’ve been rehomed.
