PoC.org has provided extensive coverage of the case and a few of those links are posted following this article. At one time there was a discussion as to whether the man was insane.
On Monday, Kenny Rowles, a Nanticoke resident, was sentenced to between nine to 23 months in jail followed by two years probation. Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough also ordered Rowles to pay $4,745 in veterinary fees for treatment of an injured cat named Tollie, among many others. Dr.Inayat Kathio performed emergency surgery on Tollie, where he had hooks in his mouth, tongue and throat. The hooks caused abscesses.
Let’s hope Rowles will have to serve the maximum sentence and not be released early for ‘good behavior.’ With animal cruelty on the rise, it’s imperative we send a message to abusers that abuse is NOT okay and they’ll be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
We also need to press our government representatives to enact tougher punishment for abusers because without the laws in place, animal abusers more often than not get off with a slap on the wrist.

This took a while to get to court and for Kenny Rowles to be convicted. The first time I found out who he was, was when a man called Dougie Doug said he knew who did it and he said so on Facebook. Here is the post:
It was one of the most notorious examples of reported cat abuse in 2019. Note: if you get this far in the post, I have not published the photo of one of the cats because I don’t believe it is necessary. It is too ugly and sad and Google does not like these sorts of pictures. I hope you are okay with that.
