Domestic cat protects chickens as if they were her kittens
Note: videos on this site are typically made by people other than me and held on YouTube servers or the servers of other businesses (not the server storing this website). Sometimes the videos are deleted at source which stops them working on this site. If that has happened, I apologise but I have no control over it.
The video is unsurprising to me although it is unusual because this domestic cat could treat these young chickens as prey animals rather than her offspring. It is unsurprising because I see so many of these sorts of videos in which the conventional roles of predator and prey are upturned and we have the maternal instinct taking over the relationship. But in order for this to happen these two species of animal must have been raised together because you have to train the brain to do the opposite to what a predator has inherited.
