Mike Murphy writing in The Sunday Times says that “Musk and Trump are tomcats trapped in a pillowcase, and it will not end well.” The problem is ego. Both have egos as big as the rockets designed by Musk’s Space X team to go to Mars.
Musk promotes freedom of speech which ends up with him putting his foot in his mouth on X. He supported Farage and now does not in saying that Farage is not the person to lead Reform when Farage IS Reform. The party as we see it today would not exist without Farage.
It seems that Musk has fallen out with Farage although Farage is being very level-headed about it. Musk is demonstrating instability. Is he imbibing a little too much when he settles over his computer to write his X posts? It seems that he is and I have wondered for a while whether he has become a little too interested in alcohol. Sometimes he looks a little the worse for wear due to an overindulgence.
Musk decided to support and align with Trump to make billions of dollars rapidly and he did. In the process, Musk seems to have become an unpaid Republican politician with very close access to the President-elect.
But Musk’s beyond the pale behaviour on his social media platform X will surely lead to a flare up between him and Trump leading to the end of the relationship as appears to have happened between him and Farage. The Musk-Trump combo is a very febrile relationship I feel.
As mentioned, Musk and Trump are like a couple of tomcats: unneutered male, street cats fighting over a female in heat. The ‘female in heat’ is a metaphor for political influence in this instance.
More: Trump
There is another cat analogy: “He who rides the tiger must beware lest he end up inside.” Musk is riding Trump. Both are pretty unstable and prone to saying things that they might regret. They both have pretty extreme ideas. Somewhat unfiltered. It would seem reasonably predictable that Musk will end up inside the Trump tiger.
What AI says about this:
It’s certainly possible that Elon Musk and Donald Trump could fall out over a fundamental disagreement, given their strong personalities and significant egos. Both have a history of being outspoken and assertive in their views, which could lead to friction, especially if their interests or values clash.
For example:
- Business vs. Political Agendas: Musk’s business ventures, such as Tesla, SpaceX, and others, often rely on government policy and support. If Trump were to advocate policies that Musk perceives as harmful to his industries or climate goals, tensions could arise.
- Public Disagreements: Both are highly active on social media and not shy about airing grievances. A public disagreement could escalate quickly.
- Differing Priorities: While Trump prioritizes his political influence, Musk’s focus is on technology and innovation. Fundamental disagreements on issues like energy policy, technology regulation, or international relations could drive a wedge between them.
However, both also value alliances that further their objectives. If their interests align, they might continue to collaborate despite potential personality clashes. Their relationship would depend largely on the specific circumstances and stakes involved.
P.S. A knock-on effect of a fall-out between Musk and Farage could be tension between Trump and Farage.
