This is Jody, a beautiful new mother currently in the care of Nine Lives Foundation in Redwood City, California. Jody recently gave birth to four kittens and has just taken in two more orphaned babies on Wednesday.
The dark gray tabbies were found cold and alone on a sidewalk. With nowhere else to go, as shelters do not routinely rescue newborn orphaned bottle babies, they were brought to the no-kill shelter by a Good Samaritan.
Cats are often accepting of kittens who are not their own and take them in and raise them.
Nine Lives Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit no-kill cat welfare organization the works with the local community, TNR, and rescue groups to reduce the overpopulation of homeless cats in Northern California by providing low-cost spay/neuter services, vaccinations, health care and shelter for stray, feral and at-risk cats.
My spayed at 8 weeks ( by an animal shelter not me) Mercy took on raising Tera’s ( my stray ) cats babies at 3 weeks when there was an opening for mama at the rescue.( she was just adopted !) and cared for them like a mama cat while I took care of the bottle feeding. Even if a female cat can’t nurse the right one can be a valuable asset in raising the babies.
