This is a nice – better than nice – video of a pair of handsome Ukrainian warriors; one a cat and the other a human. This has been set up for the camera and it works nicely. I am impressed by the sophisticated kit: the gear and the uniform. It shows us that the Ukrainians have good military clothes. So important. And gear such as helmets and night-sights etc.
The Ukrainian military have employed the domestic cat in their promotional videos and still images because they make excellent subjects when juxtaposed with a soldier.

I have just written about the popularity of photographing cat companions with iPhones. They end up devouring all the phone’s storage space. The cat is photogenic. They make you smile.
The cat in the picture – a tabby-and-white – looks very calm and at home in their army harness. As mentioned previously, cats and dogs are serving the frontline soldiers. Both species, in their own way, are working animals, a necessity in time of war.
Don’t watch this on X! Please stay here and watch it. 🙄😻. Twitter has enough visitors and Google favours Twitter.
How is the domestic cat helping the Ukrainian soldiers on the frontline in the current war?
Domestic cats are providing both practical and emotional support to Ukrainian soldiers on the frontline in a few ways:
- Pest control: Trenches and other temporary shelters become overrun with mice and rats, attracted by food scraps and warmth. Cats act as natural mousers, keeping the rodent population in check. This protects not only food and supplies but also morale, as rats can spread disease and just generally be unpleasant neighbors.
- Morale boosters: The companionship of a cat can be a huge comfort for soldiers facing the stress and danger of war. Stroking a purring cat can be calming and provide a sense of normalcy.
There are stories of soldiers adopting strays they encounter in the war zone, and even some official “adoptions” by military units. These feline friends provide stress relief and a furry shoulder to lean on during difficult times.
True. The Russians have been raiding supermarkets, stealing food from homes and eating pets. Poors sods. And they’ve been raiding off-licenses for vodka.
Soldiers have been rescuing cats and dogs because if they don’t the dang Russians will kill and eat them. Putin’s not sending ammo much less food. Love the video. 🙂
