This Will Make You Cry

This is another recent cat news story. For me, it is both hateful and loving. A hunter appears to have shot a mother bobcat in Alabama, USA. The mother was nursing three kittens. He took them away and asked a veterinary technician to raise the kittens for him so that he could give them to his children as pets. If that is true, how horrible is that! Crudity and ignorance bundled together in a distasteful package.
That is the hateful bit out of the way. The rest is loving. But it took a lot of loving to make up for one act of careless violence. A lot of people, time and effort was involved to repair the damage that took a second.
O.K., it is just one American bobcat, big deal, I hear a million people say. I say it is time we began to understand how to live in harmony with other species rather than simply killing them.
The kittens being very young needed a surrogate mother to nurse them. One lovely lady cat with a short tail was found. She is called Bobbi. She licked them and initially the little bobcats were confused and they hissed. But they soon realised how good a thing this was!
Beautiful bonding followed:
Some people criticise Big Cat Rescue. I think this is unjustified. In this case they came to the rescue with the help of others to provide a life for these three very vulnerable cats.
To see them nursing is a delight. Bobbi is very accepting.
Occasionally videos get pulled. I hope this one stays live for a while. Well done Big Cat Rescue and Carol Baskin.
