I have had Siamese cats most of my life, and they have been the most loyal and loving cats anyone could ask for. The literature is not kidding when they say that these cats can live for a long time.

A friend of mine walked a stray Siamese cat over to our house when I was ten, and my family was completely taken with her. After looking for her owner and not finding them, we adopted her and named her Katie.

That was in 1989. Katie passed away this past August, 2009. The vet had guessed her original age at three years old. My family misses her very much.

Hi Jackie... I am pleased that Katie lived for 23 years. A very long life. Was your Siamese a traditional or modern and was she purebred?

I feel that the modern Siamese are more fragile health wise than normal because of the higher than average genetic diseases to which they are prone. But I am generalising.
