A campaign to save a San Francisco fire station cat is underway today and there’s not much time to prevent her eviction. ‘Edna’ is known as the ‘station angel’ and those who work at the station have asked the public to help. Cat advocates are quickly answering the plea for help using social media to spread the word.
The hashtag #ednastays is going viral in an effort to save Edna, a tortie beauty who has been a member of the team at San Francisco #49 for the past four years after being taken in as a kitten.
Not only does Edna catch mice and keep the birds away, but she also helps with stress management. Unfortunately, someone has allegedly made an anonymous call complaining about Edna being around the firefighting equipment. The station captain wants Edna evicted by February 11.
Readers can help by sharing this article with friends and by emailing fireadministration@sfgov.org and asking permission for Edna to stay. Please share this on ALL of your social media connections and in all groups who may be able to help.
Not only is Edna a member of the fire department family but she also has around 6,000 followers on Instagram. She’s getting attention from cat lovers around the country. Major news media has picked up her story, including ABC7, MSN and various animal advocacy publications.
ABC7 reports they’ve reached out to SF Fire multiple times and not received a response.
