Taylor Swift has been replicated digitally by an AI computer in order to scam her fans into believing that she has unsold Le Creuset cookware products to give away. She is the latest celebrity to have her likeness hijacked by artificial intelligence employed by scammers who know that her digital likeness will entice fans to come forward and become victims.
Her AI digital creation has appeared on social media platforms, including Facebook. It is known that Taylor Swift is a fan of this particular cookware brand which adds to the scam’s effectiveness.
The Taylor Swift AI digital replicant says on video: “Hey y’all, it’s Taylor Swift here. Due to a packaging error, we can’t sell 3,000 Le Creuset cookware sets. So, I’m giving them away to my loyal fans for free.”
The advert directs fans to a website where they are asked to pay up $9.96 as a shipping fee for the products. If the buyer hands over the money they are then forced into paying recurring charges. The product is never sent to the buyer according to The New York Times.
At the moment, according to The Times, of Thursday, January 11, 2024, the perpetrator of this scam is yet to be named. And we don’t know how successful it’s been either.
