Stray Cats In Your Neighborhood

Stray Cats In Your Neighborhood

by Scarletta Hydeener
(Kutztown, Pa)

Stray cats can be a huge problem I know, but I do love cats. Here are some tips on how to keep those cats away from your house:

1. Don’t feed them cat food, they’ll just keep coming back.

2. If you have a cat, don’t take them outside. That will irritate the strays and they’ll know that there’s another cat to bother.

3. Don’t be-friend them or they won’t leave you alone.

4. Some strays are bad kitties. Make sure that if you have kids, check outside to make sure that the cats aren’t there.

Strays are big problem for people and pets.

Follow these tips and those strays aren’t a problem.

One more thing, to scare them away, use loud noises like music, pots, drills, and etc. Don’t chase them or their very likely to come back.

stray cats
by: cat lady

I “CAT LADY” know of the pathological disturbance (demon-possessed Sociopath) this Scarlet has, along with all the other cat haters that claim to “love cats”. To try to discourage people from feeding hungry, abandoned, innocent creatures and banging pots, drills, etc and scareing them away and not being friendly to them?? Well that just flys in the face of reason!!. I believe Ms Scarlet has some pathological activity going on in her small, unevolved mind. I mean, what a dichotomy, loveing cats and then being heartless to them. This sounds exactly like the “anonymous blogger that has used my web-page to go on diatribes against me and the feral colony I feed in “Feral cats of North Hills” READ UP , cat lovers and you will learn something!. Michael the moderator, Is there anything you can do about “anonymous” the typo error dumbo” ? He is starting again with his rants on my blog, Dec 2, 2011 after being told by Management to stop bothering me or face eviction. PLease, Michael get his IP so I can have a conviction against him for cyber stalking, etc, etc etc? This guy, like Scarlet (hmmmm?) or even someone he put up to with this post, is truly a disturbed individual, masquerading as a cat lover? I’ve said it before, I will say it again…… Anyone who is cruel to animals is a threat to humans, physically and/or emotionally. Wake up everyone and let’s all take a stand against the abuse that is taking over our growingly sadder Planet. The culture of kill and destroy, that unevolved people like this, Scarlet the pretend Vet, rant about, and then they say they love animals ? Damn sociopaths!!! I will welcome Judgement Day for these idiots soon and very soon!! Google, Thomas Sheridan’s book called, PUZZLING PEOPLE. I believe, with end times coming and the worldwide economic collapse , expect more of this demon possesed behavior. We are not only fighting flesh and blood here, but a Spiritual warfare, here on Planet Earth! The creatures on this Planet were created by God, and they here before us, they are here to teach us, we are their stewards. What a lousy job so many have done by not respecting nature!!

Don’t worry Grahame I recognised your style of criticism easily enough, I have been on the receiving end of enough of it to know it very well.

“blowup”?
by: Grahame

Gremlins have been appearing in recent posts. Sometimes words are added, or spelled differently in transmission than in the post as I sent it.

Now the word “blowup” has appeared at the end of my post replying to Barbara, on diminutive appellations.

I did NOT write that word “blowup”!

Drat!

I’ve been unwell and a bit off my game. I forgot to put my name on my reply to Barbara, about diminutives. Regret my omission.

Diminutive attributives as a linguistic feature
by: Anonymous

>”Some strays are bad kitties” doesn’t sound very affectionate to me. Cats are cats are cats, be they stray cats, lap cats or pedigree cats they are cats, they are not bad, they are just cats being cats.< quoting BarbaraOh indeed; I totally agree. I took great exception to her calling some kitties bad. But when I myself use the word “kitty” it is because I have great affection for the little kitten or very young cat I call by that affectionate diminutive.I spent many years in my professional life setting up schools in Eastern Europe, and in the Slavic languages diminutives are very common indeed, showing great affection. These diminutives are used not only for the young, but even for adults. For example, Jana is a very popular woman’s name, and her friends, if invited to do so, address her as Janičko; Bohuslav is a common man’s name and he is affectionately called Bohuš. Kočka is cat, and kočiček or kočičku is the affectionate diminutive. Strom is tree, but our beloved Christmas tree is often called stromiček=little tree. These diminutives are a big feature of all Slavic languages. I think it lovely.blowup

Interesting…………..NOT
by: Dorothy

I’d like to have a few more strays in my backyard.

Thanks to TNR in the community years ago, the population has dwindled down to just about a dozen contented feral cats.I have the pleasure of feeding two of them, and one lives on my back patio and visits with her best friend – the neighbor’s cat. The second is too nervous to stay here because it isn’t his territory. I’d like to know how to get them ALL to live happily here on heated beds in the winter, with the best food available. Not send them away. My indoor-outdoor cat stays out of their way and they pretty much pay no attention to him. It is a happy little world.

Can I have more and still have peace? That’s what I want to know. Not how to get rid of them.

I think we’ve been spammed!

“The Lord God made [us] all.”
by: Grahame

We are all contingent beings. Awareness of that induces anxiety, and so many of us lord it over those we consider inferior, mising the point that we are all in the same boat and, as James Herriot tells us, “The Lord God made …[us] all.”

@ Ruth
by: Grahame

Very nice Celtic Rune, Ruth.

I seem to have been the first after Michael to read this apparent imposter’s post, and I hope that I took her to the cleaners. Following up on the attempted searches, I myself ran a comprehensive search and there seems to be not one person in the entire US with the name “Hydeener”.

SHE IS NOT LISTED ON THE VETERINARY REGISTRIES AVAILABLE TO ME, and these are public records. I also ran the voter registration data and will check with the DMV if she makes further claims.

I am making such a fuss because she may well influence other people of questionable will and foment hatred and shunning of cats. Her sick post could sway other people to abuse cats; after all this erstwhile “cat vet” gave them permission.

@Barbara: I have always thought that the word “kitty” was an affectionate diminutive for a young cat. The word “kitten” lacks the affectionate attributes.

Christ may be in a stray cat’s guise
by: Ruth

I saw a stranger today.
I put food for him in the eating-place
And drink in the drinking-place.

In the Holy name of the Trinity
He blessed myself and my family.

And the lark said in her warble:
Oft, oft, oft
Goes Christ in a stranger’s guise.
Oh oft, oft, oft
Goes Christ in a stranger’s guise.

(Celtic Rune)

Heartless advice
by: Barbara

Well whoever you are don’t pretend you love cats, you haven’t a shred of compassion for cats who have no-one to care for them and all your advice is centered on frightening them away to become someone else’s problem or starve to death. Advice like that we do NOT need thanks all the same.
There are no bad cats (and I really think an adult calling cats kitties is pathetic) cats such as you describe have been betrayed by humans and deserve pity and help not the sort of loathing you recommend. I think you’re a cat vet in your own head but that is all.

How cold hearted
by: Ruth

What a sad cold hearted person you must be !
There is no such creature as a bad cat, however there are such creatures as bad people and I’m sorry to say you sound like one of them.
Bad people cause cats to be strays in the first place, they turn their cats out, sometimes un-neutered and don’t care that the cats suffer and that people like you are unkind to the poor hungry creatures and add to their misery.
I sincerely hope you don’t have any kids of your own because with your attitude to other living feeling creatures you are not fit to be a mother.
Scaring cats away with your advice just sends them to other places where people may be as cold hearted as you are.
So, where do they go then ? You don’t care apparently as long as they aren’t in your back yard.
Thankfully there are many kind people who feed stray cats and if it’s possible get them to a Rescue Centre.
Think when you are sitting eating your Christmas dinner, cosy and warm and happy, there are cats out in the cold, starving and maybe dying because of callous people like you.
Your bitterness will eat away at you and when you are old and lonely you will only have yourself to blame !

Not listed among vets in Kutztown and larger area

I have run thorough and tedious search of the listings of all veterinarians in the Kutztown, PA area and there are no listings or sublistings for a vet called Scarletta Hydeener.

I strongly suspect a mischief maker; her post is absolutely incongruous.

I have run two different telephone number searches. These searches will also indicate whether or not there is a cell phone listing as well as landline listings.

There are no results for Hydeeneer, with or without a first name, in Kutztown, PA.

I suspect a troll.

I have just run an Internet search and it returns NO results for a Scarletta Hydeener, neither as a veterinarian, nor as a person. She claims to be a cat vet. Hmmmm.

I also searched under the names of all of my own veterinarians, and they all come up in results.

Cat hatred
by: Grahame

Scarletta, You have done a good job of convincing me that you hate cats, If one loves cats, one loves them all and tries to understand their cat ways. Do you also ignore beggars and those in need who solicit your help, human and feline?

Urban cats are a human phenomenon. Actually the whole earth is potential cat territory. Humans think they have a monopoly, but they do not. The way to help our fellow animals who share the Earth with us is not to cruelly shun them. You, too, are an animal, Scarletta, and not living in some transcendent sphere, aloof and above it all.

I just cannot wrap my mind around your motives in posting such a heartless article to a cat lovers’ site.

Don’t quite understand
by: Michael

Thanks for sharing. I don’t understand how you can do these things if you love cats. It is very hard to shun and shoo away cats that obviously need help. If you love cats you feel like helping.
