Marc donates £400 to Cats Protection, Wear Valley & Darlington

“Swiss man donates hundreds to North-East animal charity after being moved by its plight online” is the title to a news item in the Northern Echo and the story needs to be highlighted in a separate article on PoC as it originates in the comments to an article I wrote about the need to reward people who work tirelessly in cat rescue in the UK. It also gives me the chance to thank Marc again through one of Ruth’s posters for his great generosity….(note too that all PoC comments earn money cat charities).

Marc donates £400 to Marion of Darlington and Wear Valley Cats Protection
Poster by Ruth aka Kattaddorra

The Northern Echo article is on this page and it refers to Marc and his generosity. It also refers to PoC but not by name. I am not complaining but the journalist Joanna Morris possibly could have made a comment herself on PoC and gathered some more information in a dialogue with us.

It is very nice for Marc’s generosity to be recognised. It is an example, in a way, of what I was discussing in my original article. It is also rewarding for us all at PoC that Cats Protection gets a bit more publicity on top of Marc’s donation. Some extra money may flow into the Darlington and Wear Valley branch of Cats Protection as a result.

I think it is worth stating that Marc had saved up to donate the money as part of an article in memory to a cat Marc met called Mitsi. Here is his comment:

….I haven’t gotten around to making an article in memory of a cat I met called Mitsi – she died. I will do that – and it was going to be a commentathon. Since I haven’t done it yet I’d like to offer Marion a donation just because you said she is really having trouble. I may have mentioned I have already been saving up for the article I was going to do so I’ll donate that money – I think about £400…..I can’t stand to hear she is having difficulty buying food. I should have done this already.

I hope Marc can find the time to write that post about Mitsi. In the meantime, let this page be a memorial to her.

Well there you have it. Marc is becoming the “mysterious Swiss man” a benefactor to cats charities. New visitors should note that Marc has done something similar before and it was a larger sum of money. That time it was a donation in memory of Red.

  1. Yes Marc’s generosity is too important to be ignored and now having inspired you to double the month’s donation is just wonderful!
All we need now is the good news that Vincent is being released from his prison sentence to be adopted by Connor and I truly will believe in miracles!
It’s been a bad time lately with horrible things happening to some cats but these good things remind us that there are more good people than bad in the world and that many good people are united here on PoC to fight those who abuse cats (and any other animal) and to hope that Karma does exist.

  2. Ruth, the opportunity presented itself to use your lovely poster. The news was too important for PoC to ignore it. I hope Marc is OK with this page. He’s a fine cat supporter and a huge asset to PoC.

He has inspired me to double this month’s donations from PoC. What ever the figure comes to I’ll double it.

  3. Marc is one of a rare breed of genuine, caring, kind gentle men, there are not many of them but I think Michael also fits the bill. People like this make life worth living when all around you seems to be greed and selfishness. Many, many thanks to Marc for his generosity, I wish I lived near enough to shake his hand (or give him a big hug.) The magical season of Christmas seems to have begun already.

  4. Marc is a very generous man and a true cat lover. I don’t know anyone else apart from Marc and also Michael of PoC, who give donations for needy cats in other countries to where they live.
How I agree with Dorothy too about Marc’s wonderful comments.
THANK YOU Marc from all the cats you help x

  5. Marc is a hero among cat lovers. I hope he can feel the appreciation from the internet, but also through the airwaves. You have taught us how to be better cat owners through your comments and openness. Thank you Marc.
