Marc donates £400 to Cats Protection, Wear Valley & Darlington

“Swiss man donates hundreds to North-East animal charity after being moved by its plight online” is the title to a news item in the Northern Echo and the story needs to be highlighted in a separate article on PoC as it originates in the comments to an article I wrote about the need to reward people who work tirelessly in cat rescue in the UK. It also gives me the chance to thank Marc again through one of Ruth’s posters for his great generosity….(note too that all PoC comments earn money cat charities).

Marc donates £400 to Marion of Darlington and Wear Valley Cats Protection
Poster by Ruth aka Kattaddorra

The Northern Echo article is on this page and it refers to Marc and his generosity. It also refers to PoC but not by name. I am not complaining but the journalist Joanna Morris possibly could have made a comment herself on PoC and gathered some more information in a dialogue with us.

It is very nice for Marc’s generosity to be recognised. It is an example, in a way, of what I was discussing in my original article. It is also rewarding for us all at PoC that Cats Protection gets a bit more publicity on top of Marc’s donation. Some extra money may flow into the Darlington and Wear Valley branch of Cats Protection as a result.

I think it is worth stating that Marc had saved up to donate the money as part of an article in memory to a cat Marc met called Mitsi. Here is his comment:

….I haven’t gotten around to making an article in memory of a cat I met called Mitsi – she died. I will do that – and it was going to be a commentathon. Since I haven’t done it yet I’d like to offer Marion a donation just because you said she is really having trouble. I may have mentioned I have already been saving up for the article I was going to do so I’ll donate that money – I think about £400…..I can’t stand to hear she is having difficulty buying food. I should have done this already.

I hope Marc can find the time to write that post about Mitsi. In the meantime, let this page be a memorial to her.

Well there you have it. Marc is becoming the “mysterious Swiss man” a benefactor to cats charities. New visitors should note that Marc has done something similar before and it was a larger sum of money. That time it was a donation in memory of Red.

  1. Oh Gosh yes Vincent – oh I really hope he is going to be adopted. Maybe Michael and even write to him and ask if we don’t hear.

  2. Me too Dee!
I do hope you are right about Vincent, to be in a Shelter all this time is just so sad and it was like a miracle to read that Connor wants to adopt him.
If this happens it will be all down to Michael PoC posting the article I wrote years ago!

  3. Oh Dorothy there is someone else generous here! YOU! You gave towards Kays Hill new cattery being built 🙂

  4. I feel a little like I’m in a thrill ride. Such good things on a roll.
The positive energy is electrifying. I feel positive about Conner too. Vincent needs to go home for Christmas.

  5. FABULOUS news that Marc’s generosity is being known and showing everyone what a great person he is and now your generosity too Micheal DOUBLING the next donation WOW
Did I see on another page it would go to Vincent if Connor manages to adopt him just think he will need to see a good vet to help his weight problem and see if his poor paws can be helped and that will cost money and I wonder if Dr Conrad of the Paw Project knows of a doctor near Connor who could help him.
I can’t stop thinking and wondering if it will happen.
BTW love the poster Ruth,Marc so well deserves.
