My Feral Kitten From Heaven

My Feral Kitten From Heaven

For 58 years, I have been a dog lover/owner. I had just lost my beloved Morgan Amy Jo of 13 years on April Fool’s Day – no joke. Since I knew her time was just around the corner, I vowed she would be my last pet. I didn’t want to have another broken heart. But 2 months later, my husband found a 2-3 week old abandoned kitten in our back yard. We knew the mother had delivered 4 kittens, 3 of which looked just like her, and one was different.

She had been moving her babies around our yard every so often and my husband just figured they were on the move again when he found the one left behind. He kept watch for awhile but Mama never came back. So, he brought the kitten into the garage and put him in a box for safe keeping. I didn’t know he was there – walked right by him and never heard a peep (meow). Later that night, my husband came home from work and brought the kitten into me. From that day on, me and Toby Joe have been inseparable. I never thought I would fall in love with another animal again, let alone a CAT.

As for him being a feral – they are trainable. Toby Joe is and has been using the old doggie door for weeks now to go out to his litter box to take care of his business. He walks on a leash. He is my gift from heaven – we saved each other. I can’t imagine my life without him.

i too just recently rescued a feral cat from the outdoors. She just had 4 kitties and the landlord found them homes. She is a tiny black longhaired 4lb momma who had no home. i got her fixed through the spay and stay program in our area. She still hasnt warmed up to me but im giving her some time. she likes my boyfriend who suffocates her with treats. my other cat who is about 13 years old doesnt seem to mind her being in the house even though she hisses and swats at him. She is exactly like my old cat midnight who died about 3 years ago. Is it possible she is a ghost cat and god brought her back to me? Anything is possible?

I always love these tender stories that are so positive in which both cat and person invariably gain from the relationship. It is the way it should be. There is too much pain in the feral cat world.
