San Francisco SPCA asked for donations and received $162,000 in 3 days!

The amount raised went up $300 during the time it took me to write this post. The target was $100,000.

This is awesome and demonstrates the generosity of kind hearted people concerned with the welfare of companion animals lost and injured in the Camp Fire, California. I am sure I will have to adjust the figure upwards substantially in due course.

An astonishing aspect of this fund raiser is that an anonymous donor agreed to match donations to a max. of $1 million! Yes, this person is generous, rich and loves animals. We have to find out who they are.

San Francisco SPCA have a gallery of companion animals on their Facebook page who need to be reunited with their owners.

It is sad to report that only 8 out of 29 animals have been matched to owners so far (it’s bound to go up). They say on Facebook that they need to match up the 29 before bringing others in who are in need of care. The cats are from Butte County.

They have the expertise to treat burns. The animals rescued so far have mild to severe burns. They are all in their hospital receiving much needed treatment.

The San Francisco SPCA is a US 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation whose mission is to save and protect animals, provide care and treatment and to advocate for their welfare and to enhance the human-animal bond.
