Entropion is an inherited eye condition and a logical consequence of the cat fancy’s Peke-face Persian’s breed standard, which aims to produce the extremely flat face. The infographic outlines the causes, symptoms, and treatments. Long-term prevention would be fairly straightforward: reduce the extreme selective breeding over a long time to produce cats with more …
What one takes away from this 2019 study is that the modern (contemporary flat-faced) Persian cat’s health could and should be improved with a change to the breed standard to neutralise the extreme facial anatomy and normalise a skull and facial features which are nearer to what we expect of the domestic cat. This …
From a health standpoint and from a human behaviour standpoint the contemporary, flat-faced Persian so beloved by Persian afficionados is an unmitigated disaster. It is ironic that the Persian cat breeders are working against health while some veterinary surgeons are correcting unnatural anatomical features surgically. It is breeders versus vets! Strange …
This is a focused, single question which must result in a response along the same lines. Your typical F5 Bengal cat, which is the default standard Bengal cat in people’s homes will be the same size as an average domestic cat. The breed standards for this breed should guide us as to what the …
