PoC avatarPosted on December 10, 2017 by Michael BroadDecember 10, 2017

Although studies conclude that FIV+ cats live as long as FIV- cats, my view is that they will on average have slightly shorter lifespans; perhaps around 90% of that of a FIV- cat.

PoC avatarPosted on September 2, 2016 by Michael BroadSeptember 2, 2016

The value of the FIV vaccine is in doubt, therefore it should not be given (as at 2011). In answering the question “Should I vaccinate my cat against FIV?” I have shamelessly referred to one source: Dr Fogle in his book … Continue reading →

How Do Cats Get AIDS?

PoC avatarPosted on December 1, 2015 by Michael BroadDecember 11, 2015

The answer is relatively straightforward although the best book on cat health1 doesn’t provide a definitive and confident answer. There is some uncertainty on transmission. And that also applies to the Cornell website. The FIV virus is shed in saliva. … Continue reading →

PoC avatarPosted on March 15, 2015 by Michael BroadNovember 29, 2018

Hoppy was a ‘feral’ cat. The description of ‘feral’ is in inverted commas because I am not sure he was totally feral but he certainly lived a hard life and it took its toll. He was found by the person … Continue reading →
